Collection of Food here at OLR

Here at OLR we collect non-perishable food items each week that are then transported to our local food pantry. This food collection helps those in need that visit the food pantry. It would be so wonderful if each family could bring a food item to donate at Mass each week. Donations can be placed in our food basket.

Food Pantries

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Southwest Idaho District Council operates three Food Pantries. People need food for many reasons. High fuel and housing costs make it difficult for families to make ends meet. In most people's budget, food dollars are the last dollars spent. If any other crisis comes up, they do not have enough to buy the food they need. Then they come to pantries such as ours for help. .

Food is given to anyone who walks in and no one is turned away. When our Food Pantry volunteers note a frequent visitor to the Food Pantry it signals that perhaps there is a need for further assistance or resource information.

In 2013 our Food Pantries assisted 32,921 individuals. With the economy in the state that it is, the need for food is growing. Donations of canned and nonperishable food are always needed.
